It’s Employee Fun Fact Friday! We have asked each team member a series of questions to find out more about each of them so you can get to know us a little better.
Cressida Slote
Sustainability Project Manager
What project are you currently working on?
Oracle OpenWorld and International Monetary Fund
Why do you like your job?
I feel very fortunate to have a job where I get to help businesses increase their positive impact on local communities and minimize their negative impact on the environment. I really enjoy the process of helping organizations find new ways to integrate sustainability more fully into their core business operations. And because no two projects are ever the same, I get to focus on a huge range of sustainability issues and am constantly learning new things.
What accomplishment in life are you most proud of?
I’m pretty proud of my 3 kids! They are a big part of what makes my work as a sustainability manager feel so rewarding.
How do you give back to your community?
My kids go to our neighborhood school and one of the main ways I’ve given back to our community is by volunteering there.
What do you do in your free time?
Since my ‘me’ time is in short supply these days, I try to maximize our family’s ‘we’ time. Some of my favorite things to do as a family are to share a meal, spend unstructured time together on vacation, go on a bike ride (which wasn’t possible for all 5 of us until this year), and discover new swimming spots, camp sites, or wild blackberry patches.
What is on your bookshelf?
A bunch of unread New Yorkers, TransAtlantic by Colum McCann, and the Neopolitan Novels by Elena Ferrante, which I could not put down and would recommend to anyone interested in reading about a fascinating friendship through time.
