My Event Footprint Tool Helps You Tell Your Sustainable Story
There’s a sustainable story to every event but you may not know how to tell it. We have created an easy-to-use tool to help you. The My Event Footprint asks a few data points from your event and then it will generate fun facts and data for you to use. You will be able to capture the savings in the following categories:
Who Was the My Event Footprint Tool Created For?
My Event Footprint was created for a variety of people who are interested in event sustainability. This includes event organizers, attendees, and sustainability professionals.

What Do Sustainability Professionals Think About the Tool?
Making Every Day Choices with My Event Footprint
“If we are to innovate within ourselves, across our supply chains, and our industries, it has to be built on the collective power of everyday choices. The My Event Footprint tool helps remind me that seemingly small actions can lead to tremendous impacts, and the data I have gained from the tool I continue to use regularly in my work.”
~ Eric Wallinger, Director of Sustainability at MeetGreen
My Event Footprint is Fast & Easy
“My favorite part about the tool is that it’s fast and easy and it can be used at any point in the event process. The original concept for the tool came from the game of Life, where you move chronologically through life. In the same way, this tool walks you through an event from start to finish.”
~ Aaron Elliott, Sustainability Consultant & Key Developer of the Tool

My Event Footprint Tool Tips
As you check out the tool for yourself we thought we would share some tips that you might find helpful.
Enter only 1 attendee if you are looking for data that is per attendee impact.
If you want data for a specific action only select that action to get the data whether it is per attendee or for the total number of attendees.
Example: For example, a recent 3,000-person event moved from a print to digital program, through the tool, I learned this action alone saved 591,000 liters of water, which is enough to fill 1,950 bathtubs!
During planning you may want to see your options by doing a comparison. Here’s an example:
Example: Let’s say you are planning a 1-day event for 500 people and have the ability to either:
Serve vegetarian options over beef options, or
Provide attendees with free public transportation passes
You can pull up the My Event Footprint tool:
Type in “1” event day and “500” people
Select “Take public transportation to your hotel/event” to see this impact
Then select “Choose a vegetarian option over beef for one meal”
Compare the data to both options
By doing this, you’ll see that choosing a vegetarian meal saves more emissions and water and therefore has a larger impact! This will help you to make decisions with bigger impact if you can’t do everything on your list.
Communicate the impacts with your data through:
During the event to your attendees
Presentations to stakeholders
The Collective Power of Everyday Choices
If we are to innovate within ourselves, across our supply chains, and our industries, it has to be built on the collective power of everyday choices. The My Event Footprint tool helps remind you that seemingly small actions can lead to tremendous impacts, and the data that is gained from the tool can be an impactful tool for your event.
