Our first #MeetGreenChat for 2020 was held on the 5th of this month and our topic was looking ahead to the new year and thinking about sustainable goals. These goals were personal as well as about the companies and organizations people worked for. It was a great way to kick off the new year and start planning ahead to include sustainability for personal, events, and business. Here are some highlights from the discussions!
What sustainable goals are you including in your events this year?
A1 Reducing food waste beginning with ordering less #MeetGreenChat
— nancyjzavada (@nancyjzavada) February 5, 2020
A1) For events I'll manage, these will be the first I plan to include: quality education, sustainable consumption, and good health/well being. #MeetGreenChat

Is there any personal motivation behind the goals you have set? Do you have a personal motivation for sustainability in your work generally?
A2 I try to be mindful in my personal life of what I am doing and what resources I'm using and I'm fortunate to be able to do that at work, too. I'm also lucky to be surrounded by people who are like-minded. #MeetGreenChat
— Della Green (@MeetGreenDella) February 5, 2020
A2) Yes & yes. I expect any training which I'm part of to HAVE good quality. As for leftover food disposal, I'd rather help those NEED it than trashing it. If my work can include a component that improves my health, win-win. Sustainability factor is a bonus! #MeetGreenChat pic.twitter.com/kSYd90e9sH

What sustainable examples have you seen that inspire you?
A8 We were delighted to design some exhibits at @SBParis19 last year. Great sustainable exhibitor manual for us to work with and 100% of staging materials donated to non-profits and collection agencies for reuse or recycling #MeetGreenChat

A8 I'm really inspired by the Waste Management Phoenix Open. This event has over 700,000 people and it's completely zero-waste. My friend is currently attending and I am seriously impressed! #MeetGreenChat https://t.co/rRg00jeGlx
