In the musical words of the Beatles, “They say it’s your ‘Earth Day.’ Happy ‘Earth Day’ to you!”  Alright, maybe not their exact words, but it has a snappy tune and I am sure they would agree.

In celebration of making the planet a better place, one event at a time, I share this infographic from the book project I have been working on with Mariela McIlwraith and Shawna McKinley. My two wickedly smart colleagues and I have teamed up to write Meet Better: 167 Easy Ways to Make Your Events More Environmentally and Socially Responsible.

The world of sustainable meetings has gotten very complicated as event organizers scramble to understand standards, reporting and KPIs, we realized what’s missing are the basic tips to green meetings. We sat down to write a book of 101 tips and the great ideas kept flowing until we stopped ourselves at 167. Resisting the urge to make this quick reference more complex, we opted to provide additional information in easy-to-understand infographics.

The infographic shows the benefits of revenue-generating ideas for sponsorship sales and illustrates the environmental impact of sponsored, reusable water bottles. Sponsors love to be involved with the feel good, image-building aspects of sustainable events. It is an integral component of the triple bottom line of planet, people, and profit.

This Earth Day, if you want to get started but are overwhelmed at the complexity of sustainable meetings, we invite you to take the easy way out. Copies of the book are available for pre-order now at a 20% discount here using the coupon code “preorder”.
