Industry & Community Involvement
Since our inception, MeetGreen® has been committed to serving and interacting with the community we live in, both professionally and personally. We are proud to belong to and support the following organizations with our time, resources, and expertise.
Founders of GMIC – Green Meeting Industry Council
In 2003 Nancy Zavada and Amy Spatrisano founded GMIC (Green Meeting Industry Council). They had tried to get the conversation of sustainability going in other meeting industry organizations and many of the established organizations just weren’t ready to have the sustainability conversation. Knowing that there were planners and suppliers that were implementing green, they decided to begin their own association to give those two sides a chance to get together.
GMIC’s Mission: “The mission of the GMIC is to transform the global meetings industry through sustainability.” GMIC continues to educate, inform and bring together planners and suppliers to help make a difference in not only the industry but in the world. Since its founding in 2003, GMIC has grown into an organization of 14 chapters throughout the world. For more information on GMIC, please visit their site.
We invite you hear from Amy and Nancy to find out what inspired them to create GMIC.
